High-Speed Milling Machine DATRON MXCube wins Red Dot Award for Innovative Product Design

DATRON MXCube erhält den Red Dot Award
The new high-performance DATRON MXCube milling machine convinces the 40-member jury of experts with a new housing concept and its clear and simple overall appearance. For DATRON and its in-house design team, this is already the 6th of the renowned design prize.

The design of the DATRON MXCube for demanding industrial applications underlines the robustness and the stiff construction of the machine. The use of strongly contrasting colours and high-quality materials is particularly impressive. The basis for the innovative housing concept with ergonomic operating terminal for fatigue-free work were industrial specifications such as the possibility of crane loading and the connection of automation solutions. The robust steel construction in pioneering design offers excellent accessibility to all functional elements and thus simplifies the operation and maintenance of the machine. All aspects contribute to the evolutionary maturity of the DATRON machine design, which presents an industrially resilient and target group-oriented solution.

"With the design concept of our high-speed milling machines, we have now been able to convince the renowned jury on several occasions, proving again and again that we at DATRON develop aesthetically sophisticated production technologies with high customer benefits", DATRON industrial designer Frank Wesp, Head of Design, responsible for the design of the machine.

Thomas Frank, Marketing and Sales Director of DATRON AG, is pleased: "The repeated award for outstanding design and the high utility value of our products reflects DATRON's all-round view in the development of new products. In addition to the highest demands on technologies and precision of our machines, the design and the associated user-friendliness and user ergonomics play an important role in the development process".

About DATRON MXCube

The DATRON MXCube is a highly dynamic 3-axis gantry milling machine that offers all the prerequisites,
especially for economical high-speed machining of aluminium. The solid machine table made of mineral casting and the innovative portal structure provide stable conditions for machining with highly dynamic HSC strategies. The result is components with outstanding surface quality in the shortest possible time. In addition, the small space requirement and the robust design ensure economic efficiency and long service life in demanding industrial applications. The newly designed functional cabin has a sliding door for loading by crane. This makes it easier to run in large components. Designed with the operator in mind: All functional elements are easily and ergonomically accessible. Operators never had direct access to the machining area.

The completely millable, generous machining area of 1000mm x 700mm allows the machining of plates and other flat components and guarantees maximum flexibility when using several identical or different clamping systems without retooling. A further plus is the consistently implemented chip concept of the DATRON MXCube. It enables reliable milling over long periods of time and facilitates unmanned operation thanks to the chip conveyor that can be positioned on the left or right side. The tool changer with space for up to 110 tools also contributes to greater productivity. It sits outside the machining area, is easily accessible and allows tools to be loaded and unloaded during machining. The powerful high-frequency spindle also helps to save time. With HSK-E32 tool holders, it also allows efficient machining with tools from 24 mm to 0.05 mm in diameter.
